Superlative to Positive

Rule 01 : No other + part of the sentence after Superlative Degree + verb + so + positive form of the superlative degree + as + subject of the sentence.

  1. Superlative: Vicky is the smallest boy in the school.
    Positive: No other boy in the school is so small as Vicky.
  2. Superlative: Shakira is the best singer.
    Positive: No other singer is so good as Shakira.
  3. Superlative: Charles is the wisest man in the village.
    Positive: No other man in the village is so wise as Charles.

N.B. If there is of all/of any after the superlative degree discard it.

  1. Superlative: It burns the prettiest of any wood.
    Positive: No other wood burns so pretty as it.
  2. Superlative: Grilled chicken was the cheapest of all dishes on the menu.
    Positive: No other dish on the menu was so cheap as grilled chicken.
Rule 02: Very few + part of the sentence after the superlative degree + plural form the verb + so + positive form of the superlative degree + as + subject of the sentence.

Use this structure to transform the sentences that has one of the
  1. Superlative: She is one of the best girls in the group.
    Positive: Very few girls in the group are so good as she.
  2. Superlative: Copper is one of the most useful metals.
    Positive: Very few metals are so useful as copper.

Transform the following sentences into positive:
  1. Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world.
  2. The Nile is the longest river in the world.
  3. The Sahara is the largest desert in the world.
  4. The rose is the finest of all flowers.
  5. Shakespeare is the greatest of all dramatists.
