What is tide?
Tide is the change in the depth of the ocean water that occurs in some parts of the world.
What is tidal range?
The difference in depth of the water between high and low tides is called a tidal range.
* The average depth of water in a coast near the Pacific ocean is 5.0 m.
The largest tidal range in that area is 2.0 m.
Calculate the maximum depth of water in that place.
Ans: (5.0 + 2.0/2) = 6.0 m.
What is earth tide?
The change in land height due to tides through out day is called earth tide.
Explain why some harbours cannot be used at low tides.
Some harbours cannot be used during low tides because the water becomes too shallow for safe navigation.
