Fruit
Fruits are mainly of two types.

True fruit: When only the ovary turns into fruit, it is called a true fruit. Example: Mango, Jackfruit, etc.

False fruit: When the fruits are developed from different floral parts other than the ovary, they are called false fruit. Examples are Apple, Dellenia (চালতা), etc.

On the basis of origin and nature, both true and false fruits are divided into three main categories.

Simple fruit: When the ovary of a single carpel or more than one united carpels of a flower develop into a fruit, it is called a simple fruit.

Aggregate fruit: When the fruit develops from merger of several ovaries with many free carpels of a flower, it is called an aggregate fruit.

Multiple fruit: When all the flowers of an inflorescence together form a fruit, it is called a multiple fruit.
* The mode of arrangement of flowers on the floral axis is known as inflorescence (ইনফ্লুরাসেন্স).
